Michael Joseph Jackson, also known as The King of Pop, was an American singer, dancer, composer, and philanthropist. He was one of the most successful artists of all time and is the most awarded solo music artist in the world. Jackson was distinguished by his recognizable voice and his signature dance moves. Michael performed on stage at a very young age as a member of The Jackson 5 and started a solo career as a teenager. In the early 1980s, he was one of the biggest pop stars internationally. "Rock with You", released in October 1979, is written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones. It was first offered to Karen Carpenter, while she was working on her first solo album, but she turned it down. Rock with You released as the second single from Jackson's fifth solo studio album Off the Wall (1979). It was also the third number-one hit of the 1980s, a decade in which the pop singles chart would quickly be dominated by Jackson.
